As of March 1, cruise companies will relax biosecurity measures

Cruise companies that set sail from the ports of Miami as of March 1 will be able to relax their biosecurity measures, as reported by the WSNV web portal.
Companies such as Carnival indicated that this decision was made because the protocols have worked for the last three months.

“We have had a very successful restart of guest operations thanks to the support of our guests, the commitment of our onboard team, and the effective protocols we have put in place,” Carnival President Christine Duffy said in a statement. He spoke about the measures taken by the cruise ships.
CDC lowered risk categories for cruise ships
This week, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) moved cruise ships from the category of “very high risk” (Level four) to “high risk” (Level three).
“Passengers are advised to “ensure they are up to date on their Covid-19 vaccinations before traveling on a cruise ship,” the CDC said in its latest report.

Other cruise lines, such as Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Line, have also recently changed their mask-wearing regulations for travel originating from ports in Miami.
Other companies remain in reserve
Despite this relaxation, some companies, such as Norwegian, still recommend that guests wear masks in indoor public spaces.
This measure will only remain except when they are actively eating or drinking or sitting at a dining table, and outdoors when social distancing is not possible.
The cruise industry has been affected since 2020 because the start of the pandemic caused companies to paralyze all plans.
But since mid-2021 the companies have had a progressive recovery, despite the fact that the omicron variant jeopardized the growth plans of shipping companies.
