South Miami Mall is practically bankrupt
Although the economic sector in South Miami is on the rise after the Covid-19 pandemic, there is a Shopping Center that is in free fall and recently lost one of its most important tenants. This was reported by the journalist Carlos Frías of the Nuevo Herald chain.
It is the Yumbrella restaurant that was inaugurated in 2019, but due to its low influx of people, it must close its doors, as of January 30, as indicated by its owner, Steve Simon.
“It is a stagnant shopping center without traffic and it has brought us losses instead of profits”, explained Simon on his Instagram account
Shopping center was affected by the pandemic
The owner of the restaurant that in 2019 other food establishments expressed that the restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic affected the operations of these establishments.
"Between the labor crisis, the increase in wages, the astronomical increase in the cost of food," Calvo said.
He indicated that if the Shopping Center were in a more attractive place, surely the diners would come more frequently.
Restaurant will be in a new space
Yumbrella will now be in a new space, where they expect attendance to be even higher and also present a new and more attractive menu for their customers.
"This is our only chance to survive," Simon told the media.
The establishment will open its last week from 5 p.m. daily through Thursday, and from noon Friday through Sunday, Simon wrote on Instagram.
