Chevron will be able to operate in a limited way in Venezuela – Miami Diario

As reported during the week, the US oil company Chevron was awaiting authorization from the US State Department to continue operating in Venezuela.

That decision by the North American body was approved this Saturday, but in a limited way. This was reported by the Infobae portal.

According to the State Department, Chevron will not be able to perform some functions while operating on Venezuelan soil.

Chevron should not pass profits to PDVSA
One of the restrictions that the North American oil company will have is that it will not be able to send the profits from the sale of crude oil to the Venezuelan state company (PDVSA).
In addition, Chevron will be able to work individually without being directly associated with the Venezuelan oil company.

The US Executive had subordinated any decision on the transnational after the dialogue between the US and Venezuela was suspended.
The US maintains other sanctions against Venezuela
According to the US Department of State, the sanctions that were imposed by the Government of Donald Trump against the regime of Nicolás Maduro are still in force.
“Other restrictions related to Venezuela imposed by the United States remain in effect,” the US State Department said.
The North American entity commented that it will enforce its mandate strictly, as it has been doing since Donald Trump made the decision.
“We will vigorously enforce these sanctions and continue to hold accountable any actor who engages in acts of corruption and violates US law,” the US State Department statement said.
