    Alchua County

It is a public university that is located on a 2,000-acre campus that brings the city of Gainesville to life. It was founded in 1853 and is considered the best university in the state by several specialized publications, including the most recent US News & World Report.

    Gainesville is the county seat and largest city of Alachua County, and is both the principal city of the Gainesville Metropolitan Statistical Area, and the largest city in North Central Florida.
