IRS will open Taxpayer Assistance Centers for filing taxes

In order to support Americans who are preparing to file their tax return, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) announced that it will open Taxpayer Assistance Centers (TAC) throughout the country, on specific dates on Saturdays, in the context of this tax filing season.
According to the IRS, 35 Taxpayer Assistance Centers will begin operating without an appointment, the first being on Saturday, February 12, the second will be on Saturday, March 12, the third on Saturday, April 9, and, finally, on Saturday May 14, reported La Opinion.

So far, the agency has not specified in which locations it will install the TACs.
"The opening of these assistance centers for special Saturday hours is designed to provide another way for people to get the help they need," IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig said in a statement.
The IRS indicated that taxpayers who come to counseling must bring a photo ID issued by the government, the social security cards of their family members, the notices that they have received from the IRS, as well as the documents related to the return. of taxes.
On the other hand, it is recommended that filers bring their bank account information so that the agency has this information to pay reimbursements through direct deposits and thus speed up the process.
The federal agency is looking for the necessary mechanisms to be able to better serve all the millions of taxpayers who will be filing their tax returns in the coming months, despite the fact that there is a large accumulation of returns corresponding to last year.
It is estimated that the IRS has around 7 million unprocessed returns. For this reason, in this 2022 the tax season began at the end of January so that the work is not saturated this year and the filers, if this is the case, receive their refund as soon as possible.
Apart from the fact that the advice through the TACs will soon be underway, the IRS has urged taxpayers to file their tax return electronically, since doing so makes the process faster, compared to the traditional that is by means of paper.
On the other hand, the federal agency asked taxpayers to submit their documentation as soon as possible, since by doing so they will be able to receive their refund, in case there are no errors, within 21 days after the declaration was filed. .
