Avocado producers in Mexico were left in the air hours before the Super Bowl

During the Super Bowl, many brands take the opportunity to advertise their products, because it is the time when there is a greater audience in the media. But for the LVI edition of the NFL final, avocado producers in Mexico will not benefit as much as the Local10 portal.
And it is that this Saturday it was known that the government of the United States suspended imports of this product from Mexican soil.

This decision by the US authorities hours before the Super Bowl was due to the fact that a US plant safety inspector received a threat in Mexico.

“The United States health authorities… made the decision after one of their officials, who was carrying out inspections in Uruapan, Michoacán, received a threatening message on his official cell phone,” the Mexican food department wrote.
For avocado growers, the Super Bowl is an important date
This decision by the US government came on the day that the Mexican association of avocado growers and packers presented its Super Bowl ad for this year.
The producers had invested a large amount of money, so that this Sunday their advertisements would come out during halftime.
Despite the situation, the avocados for this year's Super Bowl had already been exported in the weeks leading up to the event.
The decision could generate losses of up to $3 billion
This decision could affect an industry with nearly $3 billion in annual exports.
In addition, it would not be the first time that Mexican avocado producers have suffered this type of blockade by the United States.
Following a previous incident in 2019, the USDA had warned of the possible consequences of attacking or threatening US inspectors, in avocado farms.
