The Internal Revenue Service, IRS, will provide a free online session on Thursday, September 19 at 2 pm ET to explain how the new Tax Withholding Estimator.

By Miami Diario Newsroom

The Estimator is an online tool optimized for mobile devices that uses a simple six-step process to help taxpayers determine if the correct amount of tax is deducted from income. It works for all taxpayers including wage earners, self-employed workers, and retirees.

This webinar is part of an ongoing effort to help taxpayers understand how to make a “review of your paycheck«. Routine checkups help ensure taxpayers are withholding the correct amount of tax from their paycheck for their situation. That's especially important because tax reform changed the way many people calculate their taxes.

This two-hour webinar includes a question and answer session and covers the basics of using the online IRS Tax Withholding Estimator. It also details who should check your withholding, which includes taxpayers who:

  • They have a two-income family.
  • They work two or more jobs at the same time or only work part of the year.
  • They claim credits like the child tax credit.
  • Have dependents age 17 or older.
  • They itemized deductions in the past.
  • They have a high income or a complex tax return.
  • They had a large tax refund or tax bill for 2018.

Those interested in attending must enroll in advance. It is recommended that attendees log in 10 minutes prior to start time. Subtitles will be available. Tax professionals can earn two continuing education (CE) credits. Find past archived webinars on the web at www.irsvideos.gov.
