Royal Caribbean to resume construction of Miami headquarters

Royal Caribbean prepares to resume construction of its 4200-employee Miami headquarters
A massive global headquarters for Royal Caribbean will soon resume construction at PortMiami, according to a memo sent to county commissioners.

Royal Caribbean broke ground on the resort in 2019, but work has been halted during the pandemic.
Now, the company has notified the county of its intent to resume construction and is requesting changes to its lease to reflect the revised schedule.
Lease termination deadline will change from December 31, 2022 to December 31, 2024, if approved by commissioners
RCL is building the state-of-the-art complex in an effort to attract world-class talent to Miami. The campus will house up to 4200 employees, roughly double its current work capacity.
The $300 million office complex is designed to resemble a ship.
It will include a soccer field, volleyball court, basketball court, gym, electric car chargers, solar panels and rainwater collectors.
Miami-Dade's PortMiami and Environmental Resilience Committee is scheduled to consider the proposal at a meeting on Jan. 11.

Due to increasing cases in the pandemic, the company announced the cancellation of several sailboats on four cruises due to "ongoing COVID-related circumstances around the world."
Cancellations affect the following trips:

• Serenade of the Seas departures from January 8 to March 5, returning after April 26, 2022
• Jewel of the Seas departures from January 9 to February 12, returning on February 20, 2022
• Symphony of the Seas departures from January 8 to 22, returning on January 29, 2022
"We regret having to cancel our guests' long-awaited vacations and appreciate your loyalty and understanding," the cruise line said in a statement. "Our top priority is always the well-being of our guests, our crew and the communities we visit."
